What these business tools cover
This category is for the recurring administration of a small practice — a studio, a tutor, a clinic, a class — rather than for company finance. It holds one tool today: a tracker for class packages, schedules and attendance.
The problem it addresses is the spreadsheet that every small teaching practice ends up maintaining. Who has sessions left on their package, who attended last week, and which classes are on this month are three questions that are tedious to answer from a grid and easy to get wrong when a student asks mid-session.
How the class tracker works
You set up your classes and the packages students buy, add the students, and then mark attendance with a single tap as each class runs. The remaining balance on each package follows from the attendance you have marked, so the number a student asks about is derived rather than maintained by hand.
Because it holds a roster of real people and a record that has to persist and stay private, this tool works behind a sign-in — unlike the calculators elsewhere on the site, which run entirely in your browser and keep nothing. That is a deliberate trade: an attendance record is only useful if it is still there next week and visible to nobody else.
- Class packages with a session balance that updates from attendance.
- Schedules, so the month ahead is visible rather than remembered.
- One-tap attendance marking while the class is running.
- A per-student view for answering "how many do I have left?" on the spot.
What is coming
This category is new and deliberately narrow. Tools are added here when a specific piece of small-practice administration turns out to be worth building properly, rather than to fill out a list — so if the tracker is the only thing here, that is the honest state of it.
Business Tools questions
Because of what it holds. A calculator takes numbers, returns an answer and keeps nothing, so it can run entirely in your browser. An attendance record is a roster of named people that has to survive between sessions, be reachable from whichever device you have in the room, and be visible to nobody else. That requires an account.
